Our main Charitable interests are The "Childrens Burn Camp" and the Families of "Fallen Firefighters"
ABOUT US
We are a Harley-Davidson Firefighter Motorcycle Riding Club, made up of “Sworn Professional Firefighters and Paramedics” (active and retired), who share an interest in the sport of motorcycling, with an emphasis to promote a positive image and safe riding practices. Those values as well as others are to promote a "Social environment" for the “Brotherhood of Firefighters” who share an interest in the Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Culture, with family oriented activities while sharing common Charitable goals.
Those Charitable Goals may be for but not limited to:
1) The support to Families of Fallen Firefighters /Paramedics that are killed or injured in the line of duty and or of any fatal off duty injury, illness or death.
2) Children that are victims of fire, - children with burn and fire related injuries, (Children’s Burn Camp).
3) The Support of our men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces, and especially of those in harms way.
We started as a group of Professional Firefighters in Chicago with an average 20 plus years of motorcycle riding experience each, and of which the founding and majority members had traveled out and volunteered at the World Trade Center Disaster in New York City of 9-11-01. We feel, - the Camaraderie, Brotherhood, and Pride, together with the experience of being and working at "Ground Zero" with our Brothers in New York and the many others from around the country cannot be matched anywhere else in the world. After which we decided we wanted something "better" and "different" as far as our riding was concerned. Since then, we have heard from many of the "Brotherhood" and "Cameraderie" from across the country who feel and are looking for the same. We are Firefighters and ride American made motorcycles of the predominantly Harley-Davidson brand or likewise making.
Simply put ...."We're American Firefighters"!
HOW WE GOT STARTED
In the "Tir Na Nog" Irish bar across from the Madison Square Garden on October 12th, 2002, a group of us after a long march had gotten out of the rain during the Memorial Ceremonies there. The bag pipes of the Cleveland Fire Dept. were playing in the background, and after a few pints the conversation with a few "Brothers" from New York and another from Boston had turned to Motorcycles - the "Harley" kind. A Brother from New York stated "What we need is a club - named just "Firefighters" with "American made bikes". A toast of glasses was given and a "Hey Chicago, you get this off the ground and give us a call".
A long ride home later from New York on a 2002 Firefighter Special Edition Harley-Davidson, many ideas flourished and "the wheels were set in motion" so to speak (in more ways than one), and thus the idea and "Brotherhood of the American Firefighters Motorcycle Club and National Association" was born.
As New York said, - for short …just "FIREFIGHTERS MC."
